We had the privilege of hosting Mr. Tshering Namgyal, Executive Director of the Royal Society for Senior Citizens (RSSC), as a guest speaker for our ongoing Certificate in Individual Support and Care program. His insights highlighted the importance of respecting seniors’ agency and lived experiences, stating, “Care must go beyond physical support; it should uphold their independence, wisdom, and contributions to society.”
This initiative aims to equip caregivers with enhanced training tools, fostering strong, person-centered connections between caregivers and seniors. By integrating cultural values and real-life experiences, this collaboration ensures caregiving truly reflects the needs of Bhutan’s senior community.
Mr. Tshering also shared future plans and upcoming initiatives dedicated to improving the lives of senior citizens. Additionally, we discussed strengthening collaboration between ITPL and RSSC, with ITPL serving as the sole and primary provider of Individual Support and Care training. Through this partnership, ITPL will support RSSC in its sensitization and awareness programs, ensuring that caregivers receive the expertise needed for compassionate, high-quality care to enhance seniors' well-being.
A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Tshering and RSSC for their knowledge, advocacy, and partnership. Together, we continue building a future where seniors receive the care, respect, and dignity they deserve.
