Traditionally, caregiving in Bhutan has been a family responsibility, but as lifestyles evolve, there is an increasing need for trained caregivers who can provide safe, ethical, and person-centered support in various settings.The Certificate in Individual Support and Care at ITPL aims to develop a skilled workforce capable of providing high-quality, compassionate, and professional care to older people, people living with disabilities, and individuals with medical conditions.

This first-of-its-kind program in Bhutan is designed to equip learners with comprehensive knowledge, hands-on skills, and ethical principles to support individuals in their daily lives, enhancing their well-being, dignity, and independence. ITPL delivers this course in close coordination with medical authorities, health professionals, and care organizations, ensuring compliance with the Ministry of Health and other relevant authorities in Bhutan.

Graduates of this course will be work-ready for employment in healthcare facilities, hospitals, disability agencies, rehabilitation centers, and private caregiving roles, filling a critical gap in Bhutan’s emerging care industry.

Certificate in Individual Support and Care

The Certificate in Individual Support and Care is a professional training program designed to prepare individuals with the skills, knowledge, and practical experience needed to provide high-quality personal care in various settings. This course integrates international best practices in caregiving with Bhutan’s cultural and healthcare standards, ensuring that students receive comprehensive and industry-relevant training.

Student must be at least 18 years old at the time of enrolment.

Completion of class 12 minimum.

Experience working in disability agencies. Lived experience of caring for your family members.
